helping children through divorce

Hello,

So there is a kid at my church (8yo) who follows me a lot at church, and we have gotten pretty close. I know his parents because we sing in the church choir.

Recently the parents have announced that they have decided to get a divorce. I know there were problems going on within the household but I did not know it was this bad.

Now what I want to know is, what do I say or do with this kid. Should I continue my interactions like normal? Or should I ask him how he is doing with everything that is going on? I don’t want to cross any boundaries.
