If you are like most of our readers, you are scrolling through your instagram and facebook feeds and getting anxiety over the countless images of “perfect” families.
It does seem that everyone is posting shots of their families colour-coordinated on the ski slopes, locked hand in hand on the beach, smiling at one another, making silly faces and just all out having the ultimate best time with one another.
These kinds of images are hard to stomach on a good day (when you are married and feeling confident in where you are at).
But when you are in the middle of getting divorced they can be overwhelming and quite honestly damaging to your sense of stability and self esteem.
Let it be said that most of what you see on social media is not real – half of it is staged and PR for the “perfect” trip and the “perfect” family.
Real life doesn’t look like this – there are great moments and there are tough moments and no – you won’t see the tough moments in a pretty frame on your feeds.
So do yourself a favour, get off social media if you aren’t feeling great about your situation.
Your divorce will send you swerving all over the place so you will need to protect you inner strength and stay away from the image of a family that you don’t have.
Focus on making yourself feel “perfect” and not on the “perfect” images you continuously look at.
