We’ve heard about so many different reasons for divorce but there are definitely some common themes.

Research has found the most common reasons people give for their divorce are lack of commitment, too much arguing, infidelity, marrying too young, unrealistic expectations, lack of equality in the relationship, lack of preparation for marriage, and abuse.

Many of the common reasons people give for their divorce can fall under the umbrella of no longer being in love. Research suggest the nature of love changes over time. If you were young when you married or in a different circumstance you may have found your partner attractive for different qualities than you find attractive now. With all the changes that happens in your environment over time, it’s no wonder relationships ebb and flow as a result. Holding onto your partner through it all means you are growing together and respecting one another for your differences. But rest assured you are not alone in your reasoning for separating. And even though your reasons are commonplace you know you your relationship and personal journey was unique through it all.
