Frequently asked questions

Everything you might be wondering.

If you don't see your question here, just ask Angel directly — she's good at this.

Getting Started

Do I have to be sure I'm getting divorced to use Your Divorce Angel?+

No. Many people use Angel while they're still deciding. Understanding your finances, your options, and what a divorce might actually look like is exactly the kind of clarity you need before making a decision either way. Use it to think through the possibility — not just to act on it.

I haven't told anyone I'm thinking about divorce. Is this private?+

Completely. Your account is yours alone. Your spouse cannot see what you've entered, what you've asked Angel, or even that the account exists. Your data is encrypted and never sold or shared with third parties. Use a private email address (one your spouse doesn't have access to) for an extra layer of confidentiality.

What if I don't have all my financial information yet?+

Start with what you know. Angel works with whatever you give her — even partial data produces useful insights. As you gather more (statements, tax returns, retirement balances), you update your profile and her analysis updates with you. Many people start with a rough picture and refine over weeks.

How long does setup take?+

The initial onboarding takes about 10 minutes — basic questions about your family, marriage length, and where you live. Building your full financial picture takes longer, but you can do it in pieces over multiple sessions. Angel saves your progress automatically.

Pricing & Billing

How much does it cost?+

$29.99 a month. One plan, everything included. Cancel anytime — for any reason, no questions asked.

What happens if I cancel?+

You stop being billed at the end of your current billing cycle. You can re-activate anytime, and your data stays in your account if you want to come back. If you'd rather delete everything, you can do that from Settings with one click.

Is there a free trial?+

Not currently. We've kept the price low ($29.99 a month, vs. $300+ for one hour with a divorce lawyer) and made it cancel-anytime so you can try it for a month with minimal risk. Most people find clarity in the first week.

Do I have to commit to anything long-term?+

No. There are no annual contracts, no hidden fees, and no cancellation penalties. Pay month-to-month for as long as Angel is useful — many people use her for 3-6 months while their case is active, then cancel.

Privacy & Security

Is my data really private from my spouse?+

Yes. Your account is completely separate from every other user, including your spouse if they had their own account. We use Supabase (a secure SOC 2 certified cloud platform) with encryption at rest and in transit, row-level security, and never share data with anyone, ever.

What does Angel do with what I tell her?+

Angel's responses are generated using Anthropic's Claude AI. Your information is sent to Anthropic only to produce a response — Anthropic does not train AI models on your data and does not retain it beyond the request. We never share your data with anyone else, ever.

Using the Tools

I already have a lawyer. Is Angel still worth it?+

Many people who use Angel already have a lawyer — and their lawyers love it. You walk into meetings already understanding your finances and options, which means less billable time spent on basics. Several users have told us their lawyer commented they were the most prepared client they'd ever seen.

Does Angel give legal advice?+

No. Angel is an organizational and financial planning tool, not a lawyer. Everything Angel says is general information designed to help you understand your situation and prepare for conversations with professionals. For actual legal advice, you'll want a qualified family lawyer in your jurisdiction.

Which countries does Angel support?+

Currently the US (all 50 states), Canada (all provinces), the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), and Australia. Angel applies the property division rules, support guidelines, and terminology that match where you live.

What if I don't understand a legal document I received?+

Upload it to the Document Scanner. Angel will explain what the document is, what the key numbers and dates mean for your situation, what you should ask your lawyer about, and any red flags she spots. This is one of the most popular features.
